Human… A city. To be a Traveller in another person’s soul.
The deepest journeys are not always measured in miles. Sometimes they begin when another person quietly opens the gate to a place no map has ever drawn.
There was a moment when a simple thought refused to leave me. What if every person is a city?
Not a destination to be conquered. Not a mystery to be solved.
A city.

Alive. Changing. Remembering. Forgetting.
We often believe we know someone because we have walked their main streets. Their bright squares. Their famous landmarks.
Are those truly THEIR streets?
We recognise the smile they show the world. Is it always their real smile?
We listen to the stories they tell over dinner. Are they telling us what truly happened… or only the version that feels safe to share in that moment…
Every city has places that never appear on the tourist map. Quiet courtyards hidden behind ordinary doors. Old buildings carrying memories no visitor would ever notice. Bridges crossed only when no one is watching.

Cities are living, breathing organisms. They breathe. They forget. They rebuild themselves. Sometimes they demolish. Sometimes they build upon their own ruins.
Streets change their names. Neighbourhoods find new light.
Entire districts evolve over centuries, becoming something completely different from what they once were.
You never return to the same city, even if it still carries the same name.
People are no different. Every day we become someone slightly new. Sometimes stronger. Sometimes more fragile. Built from experiences that did not exist yesterday.
Some souls are easy to navigate. Others are labyrinths. Every person is a city that continues to change.
Perhaps that is why relationships cannot be rushed. A city cannot be understood in a single afternoon. Neither can a human soul.
The more we care for someone, the less interested we become in monuments. Instead, we begin to notice the ordinary.

The street they always choose on the way home. The silence that means they are tired rather than distant. The cup of tea they make when life becomes too heavy. The way their voice changes when they speak about someone they love.
Perhaps this is what it truly means to know another person.
Not collecting facts.
Learning the geography of their heart.
We often ask whether someone understands us. Maybe the better question is whether we have ever truly tried to understand them.
Not through assumptions. Not through first impressions. With the curiosity of someone wandering through an unfamiliar city, without needing to arrive anywhere.

Because every person we meet is still under construction.
New streets are being built. Old walls are falling. Hidden gardens appear where ruins once stood. And sometimes the greatest privilege is not being allowed to change another person’s city, simply being invited to walk through it.
Perhaps that is what love has always been. What friendship has always been. What kindness has always been. Not possession. Presence. Not knowing everything. Returning often enough to notice what has quietly changed.
Have you ever truly visited another person’s city?
Not simply by collecting facts. Not by remember every street… but by learning the geography of their heart… Because every city reveals itself only to those willing to return.
